Most famous place of Jaipur and centre of attraction in the city- Hawa Mahal at Bari Chaupar, Jaipur was built in 1799 AD by Maharaja Pratap Singh (1778-1803 A.D.) The chief architect was Usta Lal Chand. Made with Red and Pink sandstones. 

 

This five storied building has two large courts. The names of the five storeys are: Sharad Mandir, the first one where the autumn celebrations took place. The second storey is known as Ratan Mandir because of the dazzling glasswork on its walls. The third storey is called Vichitra Mandir, where the maharaja worshipped his deity Lord Krishna and the fourth Prakash Mandir with an open terrace on both sides. The fifth storey is known as Hawa Mandir after which the whole structure came to be known as Mahal.

 

Nearest Metro station is Bari Chaupar. Nearby places are Jantar Mantar, City Palace.

Tickets are under four categories:

 

1. Indian Tourist- 50

2. Indian Student- 20

3. Foreign Tourist- 200

4. Foreign Student- 100

 

Note: Childrens below the age 7 Years are free.

 

Hawa Mahal Opening Closing Timing

It opens from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM all seven days in a week.
